According to the United Nations’ SOLAS Convention, every vessel must have at least one life ring on each side equipped with a floating throw line that is at least 27.5 meters (90 ft) long.
The SOLAS Convention also requires that at least half of the life rings on board be fitted with a self-activating night light, such as the MARINER LED.
